Brady Demeree wins USST Nationals

14 year old Brady Demeree won his first USST race in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Fighting off a hard charging Tony Springwater for the final 15 laps of a 100 lap race, Brady led all but a few laps. With the best view of the action, Trevor Foley (driving as my replacement due to surgery on my arm) followed the dueling trucks by a truck length, waiting for someone to make a mistake that would allow him to advance. This mistake never happened and Trevor happily settled for 3rd.

Brad Sams wins 2007 USST Southern Division Championship

Brad Sams won the 2007 championship going into the final race of the season. Brad had a great year with five wins and four 2nd place wins. Congratulations Brad!!

What a great year!

What a fun and exciting racing season! I finished the season SECOND in points, my first full year of racing! My hats off to Brad Sams for his championship and to other folks having a great year, 14 year old Brady Demeree in his first year in a USST truck and Tony Springwater who figured out some suspension issues and finishing the season with four second place finishes in the last 7 races.

My sincere appreciation to Eric Caudell of RACINXS and owner/promoter of the USST Southern Series, John Barnette of One Link Wireless for sponsoring my truck and Trevor Foley for filling in for me the last 3 races. I am really looking forward to next season!

The 2008 Racing Season starts March 29th!

The beginning of the racing season is just around the corner! What an exciting year ahead with the addition of several new tracks (I-70 Speedway, Sandia Motor Speedway, Red River Speedway). The USST trucks will be a part of the Milwaukee Mile NASCAR Weekend for the second year in a row! We will also be running the beautiful Iowa Speedway again too!

Take a look at the 2008 Schedule and make your plans to attend one if not more of the exciting USST races. The first race of the year is at Altus Speedway in Altus, Oklahoma on March 29th.

We hope to see you at a track near you!

The 2008 season has started!

The first race of the season was at Altus Speedway with 17 trucks making the race. Eric Caudell led the first 37 laps until spinning from contact with Keeton Feller in the #2 Chevrolet. Keeton went on to win the 50 lap feature. With a fresh paint job, the #19 Chevrolet looked great and ran very well too. I finished 8th, about a straight away behind the winner. I was please for my first outing of the year .

WOW!!!!

What an exciting first race at Red River Speedway in Wichita Falls, TX! With door banging action throughout the field, Brad Sams fought off #2 Keeton Feller to win the action packed 100 lap feature. My #19 Silverado and I were hooked up and running fast, ending up with a 6th place finish. The truck really liked hugging the low line and I was diving it hard into the turns! Unfortunately, I also did a lot of rubbing resulting in two spins and another due to the #41 blowing an engine ahead of me. In spite of having to go to the back of the field 3 times I was charging hard to get to the front and was gaining quickly on the fifth place #12 truck of Kevin Jones when the checkered flag came out to end the race. With my adrenalin pumping and my heart pounding, I was so excited from all the action that it took me 2 to 2 1/2 hours to settle down. Red River Speedway is an exciting track to race, but due to it being narrow and only having one racing groove, I see that it will also take its toll on some trucks!

Taking a short break

Unfortunately I have had to take a short break and have missed the last 2 races. Due to other obligations, I missed the last races at Altus Speedway and JRP speedway. Brandon Lollis in the #83 Toyota ran away from the field winning the last Altus race while Brad Sams took the checkered flag at the first race of the season at JRP Speedway. I will be back on the track Memorial Day Weekend for the Oklahoma / Texas Super Truck Shootout. The first race will be Saturday 5/24/08 at Altus Speedway and the next Sunday 5/25/08 at Wichita Falls.

Come on out and see the action as the best Super Trucks in this part of the country fight it out in a weekend of high speed, tire rubbing, door banging racing!

Texas / Oklahoma Shootout!

Memorial Day weekend proved to be a tough one for many of the USST Super Trucks. Starting with 17 trucks at Altus and only 8 starting at Wichita Falls. Numerous trucks suffered mechanical problems that kept them from competing in both races. Saturday the races were postponed to Sunday noon due to weather. Kevin Jones (#12) charged to a win in the first race at Altus while Josh Cournoyer (#41) won the feature at Wichita Falls. With only 1 Oklahoma truck starting the second race Texas won the Shootout. Chris Johnson filled in for me in the #19 truck for the Altus race and ran a good race but the truck just was not hooked up quite right this weekend. Unfortunately I had to pass on the Wichita Falls race. This weekend we are off to JRP Speedway in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Texas / Oklahoma Shootout 2!

Fourth of July weekend turned out to be a wild and crazy weekend for the USST Super Trucks. In Altus, Friday started out good for the #19 Silverado as the truck was hooked up in practice running 15.4 second laps, faster than the other trucks practicing. In the Friday night exhibition race, we started 11th out of 13 trucks and finished a strong 5th in the 20 lap dash. Unfortunately, Saturday was not as good to us as we started inside the 4th row in a 17 truck feature. The truck was good throughout the race but got spun in turn 3 by the 44 truck. With 4 laps to go in the 50 lap feature, the 14 truck blew a radiator hose watering down turns 3 and 4 and hit the wall at the exit of turn 4. We got into the water in the turn and could not slow or turn the truck, hitting the 14 hard and heavily damaging our truck. Due to a lot of water on the truck and several trucks running hot, the race was called at lap 46 with Brad Sams winning both Friday and Saturday nights feature races. Then it was on to Wichita Falls Red River Speedway. With the 19 truck so heavily damaged we returned home. Eric Caudell, having received damage in both Altus races, persevered to make the repairs necessary to not only make the race at Red River Speedway but fought off the hard charging #41 Josh Cournier to take the feature win. Red River Speedway took a big toll on the USST Super Trucks with only 3 of the 13 starting trucks running at the end.

#19 Returns to JRP Speedway

After a lot of hard work putting the truck back together after the crash in Altus, the #19 raced Tulsa’s JRP Speedway for the first time in 2008. With numerous adjustments to the chassis, the #19 truck was awesome. Starting 8th in a field of 10, Scott quickly moved up to 3rd position and was running laps as fast as leaders Brad Sams and Eric Caudell. 30 laps or so into the race, the truck wanted to push in the middle of the turns and spin coming out of the turns. Almost spinning the truck in turn 2, we lost a couple of positions finishing in 5th. It turns out the bolts for the rear end worked themselves loose. Overall a great outing after a long break. We would like to welcome a new addition to our team, Gene Burk Auto Glass of Altus and Lawton, OK. They will be sponsoring the truck in this weekends race at Altus Speedway.

Gene Burk Auto Glass sponsored #19 in Altus

With an additional sponsor, the #19 looked pretty good. Scott had a strategy for the first several laps to lay back and let the younger guys rough themselves up. A pretty good strategy but he stayed with it a little too long. Not realizing where the leader #83 Brandon Lollis was, he soon was in danger of getting lapped and eventually was. After being lapped by the leader he held his ground and finished 6th in a field of 13 and still on the same straight away as the leader. The truck was very fast and should have finished better than 6th. Every race is a learning opportunity and Scott learned a lot from this race. Be cautious but Race Smart! All in all it was a great race with some great action throughout the 75 lap race. Thank you to our sponsors: One Link Wireless and Gene Burk Auto Glass for their support.
